Wine tasting among friends
Wine Quay Bar is a cosy wine bar located in Porto’s most famous area: Ribeira. Are you a wine lover? Do you enjoy spectacular views? Do you like to try exquisite flavors? Great. So do we. Do you enjoy chatting with the locals and getting some inside tips? Now we’re talking the same language!
With a privileged view of the Douro river and of Ribeira itself, having a glass of wine and grabbing a bite at this bar will make you fall in love with Porto, for sure! Filipa and Moisés are the owners and they are extremely friendly. Located on Muro dos Bacalhoeiros, just a couple of steps away from Casa do Infante, Wine Quay is a place where you can spend a couple of hours with your friends with one of the greatest views of Porto. Ok, ok, I know i’ve mentioned the view a few times already but it’s indeed one of the best features of this bar.
Apart from the view, do try the “presunto”, the mountain cheese, the olives, the bread, the “bola de carne” – it’s DE-LI–CIOUS! And as you’re in a wine bar, do not pass on the wine. It doesn’t matter which you prefer – white, red or rosé -, their selection is quite good. The wine list has a brief informational note about each wine.
As you’ll spend some time enjoying your wine and the snacks, take a look at the paintings, photos and drawings on the walls and, especially, at a globe, at the back of the bar. That globe belonged to Filipa’s grandfather, who travelled the world. On that globe you’ll find some pins. Yes, he’s been to all those places. All around the world! Check it out. It’s SO cool! Ask Filipa or Moisés about the building’s history. It’s quite interesting.
Wine Quay Bar has about 16 seats inside and 4 seats on the balcony, overlooking Ribeira and the Douro River. On rainy days, it’s really nice to stay inside, grab a glace of wine and enjoy the rain and the view. On warmer and sunny days, the balcony is the place to be!
WQB is located in Porto’s worldwide famous Ribeira, close to Ferreira Borges Market and Hard Club, Casa do Infante, D.Luís Bridge. The Ribeira area is the most famous. That’s the one you see on postcards. If you cross the D.Luís Bridge you’ll find the Port wine cellars, in Gaia.
Please keep in mind that you have to pay cash and Wine Quay Bar closes on Sundays and Mondays. And it only opens at 3:30 pm.
